March 13, 2018 - 2 Peter 1:4
This
morning we are talking about Growth in The Christian Virtue’s. Our verse today
starts, “For By These” so we need to find out what “these” are and we do that
by going back to verse 1. “To those who have received and possess [by God’s
will] A PRECIOUS FAITH of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our
God and Savior, Jesus Christ”.

Firstly,
we have to receive it, and secondly we must have it in our possession. It is
VERY possible to have received it and then lost it. Or should we say we gave it
back through our own UN-attentiveness. We don’t perceive a great value in
seeking it, so we stop.
So what did we receive and possibly possess; a precious faith of the “same
kind” as the Apostle Peter and the other Apostle’s were Preaching. It is very
important for us to realize it is the same Type, Order and Variety which they
received. When we do, we can understand the Great Cloud of Witness’s talked
about in Hebrews 12:1. If our Faith is “of the same kind” then we are seated
with them at the right hand of the Father with Jesus.
