This morning we are talking about Perserverance, or what I like to call: “Grace Under Pressure”. In my mind i like to compare it to the way diamonds are created. The name diamond is derived from the ancient Greek word (adámas), means "proper", "unalterable", "unbreakable", "untamed", from ἀ- (a-), "un-" + δαμάω (damáō), "I overpower", "I tame".   Diamonds are extremely rare, with concentrations of at most parts per billion in source rock. A common misconception is that diamonds are formed from highly compressed coal. Coal is formed from buried prehistoric plants, and most diamonds that have been dated are far older than the first land plants. It is possible that diamonds can form from coal in subduction zones, but diamonds formed in this way are rare, and the carbon source is more likely carbonate rocks and organic carbon in sediments, rather than coal. This morning we are talking about The Whole Armor of God. Yesterday I gave you part of a verse and asked that you finish it. If You Knew… three Cheers HOORAY for you, if not I will cover it today. So what is the Fight we have been assigned to? Is it for us to struggle with pagans in the world today? Peter thought he knew where the fight was. He grabbed a sword and cut off the ear of the priest’s servant, when they came to take Jesus into custody. Jesus had to put the ear back on for Malchus in John 18:10. Verse 12 tells us “We Battle NOT Against”, so firstly we must understand “The Rules of Engagement” because it does… No Good to fight and yet all the time be fighting the WRONG Enemy. Wars such as this are seldom won, because the team players cannot be identified. This is many times the outcome of Internal Conflicts, or commonly called Civil Wars. We are continuing our talks about Growth in Christian Virtue and in our verse today tell us how to stack our virtues. But first let’s go to verse 8 to understand why we need to invest our time applying diligence to God and building our virtue. God tells us that we will be useless and unproductive in regard to THE TRUE KNOWLEDGE and GREATER UNDERSTANDING of our Lord Jesus Christ. God leaves us an area to read between the lines here. If there is “The True Knowledge” then God is cluing us in here that there are some knowledge’s, which are not as precise, nor correct, as other knowledge’s. Knowledge can be as simple as: information, facts, data, awareness, understanding and comprehension. Or it can be split up into categories, such as Basic Education does with Math, English, Science, History and Social Studies. I have a question for you: Is Biblical Knowledge the same as wisdom? Through God's words we gain an understanding that God is the one who gives the gift of knowledg

This morning we are talking about Growth in The Christian Virtue’s. Our verse today starts, “For By These” so we need to find out what “these” are and we do that by going back to verse 1. “To those who have received and possess [by God’s will] A PRECIOUS FAITH of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ”. Firstly, we have to receive it, and secondly we must have it in our possession. It is VERY possible to have received it and then lost it. Or should we say we gave it back through our own UN-attentiveness. We don’t perceive a great value in seeking it, so we stop. So what did we receive and possibly possess; a precious faith of the “same kind” as the Apostle Peter and the other Apostle’s were Preaching. It is very important for us to realize it is the same Type, Order and Variety which they received. When we do, we can understand the Great Cloud of Witness’s talked about in Hebrews 12:1. Good Morning Saints! So let’s take purpose to a higher level today. I think something which needs to be talked about, and preached from our pulpits today is “Encouraging the Encourager’s”. We should say, those who are gifted to, hand out confidence, because their ability to Thank and Praise Noble Efforts is Straight from God. Several years before my mother passed, I received a card from her in snail mail. No special occasion… just a “thinking of you” with a card titled “The Love of Jesus Shines Through You”. In it, she said things like “I just wanted to remind you how proud I am of you” and “Always keeping you close in my prayers” and “Thank You… for all you do to shine for the Lord.”

This morning we are still talking about our Self-Realization in PURPOSE. In verse 11 Paul had come to his Self-Realization and knew in his heart he had been appointed to his office. His Journey had taken him to a place where he “KNEW” he was DELIVERED, SAVED and CALLED. His purpose was by appointment and it was done by, or done with, a HOLY CALLING.

Incorruptibility is another way we can see our personal need for Moral Virtue as given to us in 1 Corinthians 15:53, “For this corruptible (mortal) must PUT ON incorruption and this mortal must put on immortality”. TO PUT means “move to or place in a particular position”. Just like we get dressed in the morning and PUT ON our clothes so must we dress ourselves in God’s incorruption which makes up our 24 character strengths.
